More of Cape Town

One of the wonderful places I have been priveledged to paint in was outside The Courtyard Hotel and The Wild Fig Restuarant. From there you have an amazing view of Table Mountain with Devils Peak in front. I painted this at home using an oil sketch I made on site. The trees are actually more crooked in life and bend majestically to the right from the continual South Easterly winds.

Hi Kathy, thanks for the visit and lovely comment. Cape Town has many moods and I love them all. Those distant buildings on the right hand side are Groote Schuur Hospital where many years ago Prof Chris Barnard conducted his first ever heart transplant!

Hi Maree, no offence taken. I am trying desperately to get away from the "looking like a photograph" type painting and sometimes it still just does not work! I need more practice!

Hi Carol, (I'm relieved, but it really was meant as a compliment) but I don't think it's something we'll easily get away from, painting meticulously. My painting method tends to be very meticulous and I do struggle with achieving some looseness and have to keep working on it, but most of my best compliments have come from when I've followed my heart and just painted as I do - meticulously. (lol)

Hi Maree. I think it is possibly just part of the journey we are on. Changing, growing and getting better as we go along. Funny how sometimes something just seems to work! and it just feels so good when it does!
