en Plein Air

This was a quick sketch I did while waiting for some fellow artists to arrive. I sat in my car on the Rondebosch common side of the Redcross Childrens Hospital.

This is the, again quick, painting I did once they arrived. For those who do not know our mountain, this is the other side of the mountain from where I was painting on Tafelberg Road.

We really are very fortunate to have such a magnificent mountain on our doorstep!

I absolutely love this Carol. A sight we pass every day! You are getting better and better and your love of plein air is really showing. Well done!

I always admire artists who paint en plein air. I don't have the courage. I love the way you used a minimum palette. It works well. I remember the mountains well.

Thanks for your kind words Jean. You know I was terrified at first and very intimidated by the other people out there painting. They all seemed so experienced! It comes quite quickly though. You just have to do it a few times to become totally hooked. It does help of course, to have some really super people to paint with. Aren't all artists great!

Wow, I would love to paint a mountain one day. I only see them in books and on line. Must be an amazing experience. I feel the magnificence and majestic size of this scene. Plein air is something I like to do, but a dream to paint especially in a landscape like yours.
