Portraits & Figures (Sold)

Carol Hadfield Portraits and Figure Paintings. I've been captivated by portraits since I was a teenager - for some reason, I was granted a knack for remembering and transcribing faces. I get to use this knack every time a portrait model steps up! The balance between art and the likeness to the model is the constant challenge of this approach. If a face appeals to me, I can get lost in the art of trying to recreate it on canvas. Very often, I'm forced to work from photographs, but what I truly yearn for is live models - a living, breathing recreation just can't be topped.

Enjoy the pride and joy of my Portraits and Figures gallery - and thank you to all the past and future models!

Slangkop Lighthouse, Kommetjie

SOLD Slangkop lighthouse is the tallest iron tower on the South African Coast and sits at the one end of Kommetjie. It measures 100 feet from base to the balcony and has been operational since 1919. Every lighthouse has a different frequency of flashes and this one emits four flashes every 30 seconds as it turns and can be seen for 33 sea miles. Here is an oil painting of the lighthouse from a photograph Bryan took. I would like to do a watercolour of it sometime soon.
